Miley Cyrus was both the host and the musical guest for "Saturday Night Live" on Saturday, but the loudest applause of the night came when the singer parodied one of her own songs, "We Can't Stop," by giving it a political twist.?

Cyrus played Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and Taran Killam played House Speaker John Boehner in a risque parody of Cyrus' song, "We Can't Stop," turning the lyrics into "We Did Stop (The Government)." Cyrus and Killam suggestively danced and vamped to the new lyrics, which presented a raunchy Republican celebration of the government shutdown.

"Cause we came to shut it all down now, no government around now, if you're not ready for healthcare, can I get a 'hell no,'" Cyrus sang while dressed as Bachmann, spanking Uncle Sam, licking Killam as Boehner, and holding and licking an Abraham Lincoln doll. "Government workers on a furlough, even though you're already paid low ... everyone in line for early child care, anyone who planned to see a grizzly bear, we are so shut down yeah."

Cyrus would later return to the stage to sing a stripped-down, acoustic version of the real lyrics to "We Can't Stop," She also performed her hit "Wrecking Ball," and one quick joke in her monologue mocked the video, which famously features a nude Cyrus sitting on a wrecking ball. Cyrus announced she wanted to cut "the 'Wrecking Ball' sketch," and the show flashed to a naked Bobby Moynihan sitting on a wrecking ball and protesting the removal of his skit. "My mom is here!" he wailed.

The show opened with Kenan Thompson sitting in an post-apocalyptic New York of 2045, explaining how Cyrus' infamous MTV Video Music Awards performance destroyed America. "OId Miley" from the future visited with her 2013 self, finally getting to the bottom of why Cyrus constantly sticks out her tongue. "I'm having tiny strokes, yo!" explained Cyrus.

In other sketches, Cyrus played Hillary Clinton, Scarlett Johansson screen-testing for the "50 Shades of Grey" movie, a hip-hop-loving high schooler, a Miami morning show host and an overenthusiastic cheerleader facing an alien invasion.

In her short monologue, Cyrus promised "no twerking tonight." explaining that "I used to think it was cool but now that white people are doing it, it seems kinda lame." She also joked about her former television alter ego. "We?re not doing anything on Hannah Montana tonight, but I can give you an update on what happened to her," she said. "She was murdered."

Tune into TODAY on Monday for more Miley as the singer is scheduled to perform on the show.
