Affordable Family Holiday Spots This Easter | Internet Holiday Finder ...

Why spend the Easter holidays at home?? Consider taking advantage of the warmer spring weather and the longer daylight hours if you are of a mind to have a short break in the UK.? If you decide to travel abroad you can take advantage of cheaper travel and accommodation rates on offer at that time of the year. You can choose from any number of exciting and affordable destinations in Europe, all with numerous tourist attractions and some with seasonal celebrations taking place.

Czech Republic

Owing to its frequent use as a filming location for many hit movies, the Czech Republic has an air of familiarity about it.? Rustic and beautiful, the country has plenty to offer the travelling family.

Eastertime in the capital, Prague, features traditional folk dancing; some of the residents dress in regional ethnic costume.? The celebratory atmosphere carries over into the Prague Easter market.? Located in the Old Town Square, the market has more than 100 stalls selling handmade goods, crafts, toys, Czech crystal, regional foods and beer, and beautiful hand-painted Easter eggs.

France and Belgium

Easter in France and Belgium includes religious events and celebrations over this very important weekend in the calendar of the Christian Church.? However, there are many other attractions for families to enjoy in both these countries.

Bruges is Europe?s capital of chocolate.? Every year, this charming Belgian city features breathtaking displays of Easter sweets and goodies in its 50 chocolate shops. Master Chocolatiers work throughout the city to provide an Easter feast for the ardent chocolate lover.? With an interesting chocolate museum to visit and its well-known reputation for the finer things in life, Bruges is a luxurious and indulgent city in which to spend an Easter break.

In France, Easter egg hunts are held throughout Easter Sunday and Easter Monday at the The Chateau Vaux Le Vicomte, located just outside Paris.? In addition to the Easter egg hunt, the chateau also offers chocolate making classes, origami, face painting for the children and other attractions. Another Paris option is to take part in Galeries Lafayette?s Big Easter Hunt. Over the course of an hour, children can scour the store searching for shiny wrapped eggs and delicious chocolate beans, trying to find every one before the Grande Chase aux Oeufs is over.

Other good Easter holiday options in France and Belgium include taking an idyllic cottage in the countryside or an end-of-season ski holiday in the Alps.

Istanbul

Turkey may seem an unusual choice for Easter holidays but thousands of Eastern European immigrants have brought their Christian traditions and festivals, including Easter, to this country and its capital city, Istanbul.

Thousands of Bulgarians from the immigrant community celebrate Easter in Istanbul with a Mass traditionally held at the Church of St. Stefan.? Some worshipers travel all the way from Bulgaria to attend the Easter Mass and to spend the holiday there. Traditional rituals are observed, including walking around the church three times, exchanging coloured eggs and kozunak, the Easter bread.

Tours of religious sites, ethnic neighbourhoods and delicious regional food all combine to make Turkey, and especially Istanbul, a wonderful family destination for Easter holidays.

Holiday deals

Once you and your family have decided on a location for your Easter break, you will want to find the best deal possible.? Online travel sites, travel agencies and community and city websites are great places to start.? Whether you are looking for an all-inclusive ski trip, a decadent Bruges weekend or excellent cheap holidays in Turkey, you are sure to find some good discounts and a selection of attractive holidays from which to choose.
